This week's #weeklychallenge has to do with actual #writing. This one is to help you overcome your #writersblock and it's a challenge that I do when I am struggling to come up with ideas.
I don't know about you guys, but I have two modes:
Too many ideas
No ideas
So, this week's challenge is for when you have #noideas and consists of several steps.
Step 1
Tell a story from your life.
It can be anything. Something significant. Something insignificant. Something funny or sad or happy or unimaginable. Whatever it is, it needs to be your story from your life.
Pick the first one that pops into your head.
Step 2
Now, pick a time period.
It can be past or future, but it can't be the one where your story takes place.
Don't think about how it works with your story, just pick the first one you think of.
Step 3
Pick a significant detail to change.
Like the age of the main character or the perspective. Maybe originally you told it from your perspective, try telling it from another character's perspective. How does that change the story? How does age affect perception?
You could change the gender or sex of a character or the outcome of the story. Whatever you choose, change one significant detail.
Step 4
Add a twist. It could be a twist ending or something in the middle. It could be small or large. Just make a new plot twist.
Step 5
Put it all together.
Finally, you can submit your new story here:
